BLOG TOUR: DEATH BY TROMBONE (Pismawallops PTA Mysteries Book 2) by Rebecca Douglass

Synopsis

JJ MacGregor's very bad day has just gotten a lot worse. JJ thought starting the day without coffee was a disaster, but now there's a dead musician behind the Pismawallops High School gym. His trombone is missing, and something about the scene is off key. JJ and Police Chief Ron Karlson are determined to get to the bottom of the mystery, but will they be able to work harmoniously or will discord ruin the investigation? With the music teacher as the prime suspect, JJ could be left to conduct the band, and then Graduation might truly end in a death by trombone, or at least the murder of Pomp and Circumstance!

Review

JJ's barely holding on between her PTA responsibilities, her jerk and soon to be ex-husband trying to gain custody of their son Brian, and the re-awakening of her hormones. Stressed to the max she stumbles over a dead musician and hopes it's not murder. Sparks fly - good ones and bad ones - as she fights her attraction to Ron and he tries to tell her what to do.

Douglass has a great series here. JJ's a colorful and complex character, well-developed and likable. She has to deal with her son's dating at the same time as her own potential new relationship. I enjoyed the first in the series, DEATH BY ICE CREAM, but this one made me laugh out loud! Great writing! It can be read as a stand alone, but I'd recommend starting with the first in the series.

FTC Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book in the hopes that I would post an honest review as part of this blog tour. This has not affected the content of my review in any way.

  1. Thanks for hosting me and the book! I'm glad it made you laugh (does little happy dance over achieving a goal).

And for those who want to take Christa's advice and start with the first book, Death By Ice Cream is just 99 cents this month.

    1. Christa, thank you for correcting the spelling of my name in your header. I only just realized (dense of me) that the tour banner and rafflecopter left off that second S; kudos to you for catching it! (Sometimes I'm really annoyed with whatever ancestors insisted on adding a letter that everyone then proceeds to leave out!).

  3. Thank you for having Rebecca Douglass on your blog today. Being a mother and having attended many PTA meetings, I could probably fashion a murder mystery or two from them. robeader53@yahoo.com
